A Time to Reset

What do you do when your mind will not stop running? What do you do when you feel tired all the time? How do you continue to walk in purpose when you are exhausted?
Many of us have been taught to keep going no matter what. We move from one responsibility to the next, trying to be available for everyone and everything. Yet, somewhere along the way, we may forget that rest is not a weakness. Rest is necessary.
Do you give yourself permission to rest? Do you feel guilty when it is time to slow down? Do you even make time to rest?
Let’s talk about it.
Even Jesus rested. In Luke 5:16, we see that Jesus often withdrew to quiet places to pray. In Mark 4:35–41, Jesus rested in the middle of a storm while the disciples were overcome with fear. If Jesus, who carried such a great purpose, made time to rest and spend time with the Father, why do we often believe that we cannot?
It can be difficult to serve, lead, encourage others, and fulfill our purpose when we are mentally, emotionally, and physically drained. We cannot pour into others when we have not allowed God to pour back into us. When our minds are clouded with stress, worry, responsibilities, and exhaustion, it becomes harder to hear clearly from God.
Rest gives us room to breathe. It gives us space to pray, reflect, heal, and receive direction. It allows us to reset our minds, recharge our spirits, and refuel for the work ahead.
Taking time to rest does not mean you are giving up. It means you are preparing yourself to continue. It means you recognize that you cannot do everything in your own strength.
So today, give yourself permission to pause. Take a moment to reset, recharge, and refuel. Your purpose still matters, but so does your well-being.
You are allowed to rest so that you can fully walk in the purpose God has placed on your life.
