John 15:16–21

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last..." — John 15:16

You Are Chosen

In a world where many people struggle with rejection, comparison, and the pressure to fit in, it is powerful to remember one truth: God chose you first.

Before you ever questioned your worth, your identity, or your purpose, God had already called your name. Jesus reminds us in John 15 that we were not randomly placed on this earth. We were intentionally chosen and appointed to bear fruit that lasts. That means your life carries purpose, value, and Kingdom impact.

Being chosen by God does not mean life will always be easy. In fact, Jesus goes on to explain that the world may not always understand or accept those who follow Him. Sometimes walking in your calling may feel lonely. Sometimes obedience may require courage. But rejection from the world can never cancel the acceptance you already have in Christ.

Chosen to Bear Fruit

God did not choose you simply to exist — He chose you to grow, serve, love, and make a difference. The “fruit” Jesus speaks about is seen in the way we live our lives:

  • Showing love when it is difficult

  • Walking in kindness and integrity

  • Encouraging others

  • Leading with humility

  • Trusting God even in uncertainty

  • Sharing His light with those around us

As Kingdom Girls, we are called to stay connected to God so our lives reflect Him. Fruit grows when we remain rooted in Christ.

When Being Chosen Feels Heavy

Sometimes being chosen comes with responsibility. There will be moments when you feel misunderstood, overlooked, or challenged because of your faith and standards.

John 15 reminds us that Jesus experienced rejection too.

But being chosen means you never walk alone.

God equips those He calls. Every challenge becomes an opportunity for spiritual growth, and every season has purpose. Your identity is not found in people’s opinions but in God’s truth about you.

Rest in This Truth

At R.E.S.T., we believe every young woman should know that she is:

  • Seen by God

  • Loved by God

  • Called by God

  • Chosen by God

You do not have to compete for what God has already confirmed over your life. Your assignment is not to become someone else — it is to faithfully walk in who God created you to be.

Reflection Questions

  • Do I truly believe that God has chosen me for a purpose?

  • What areas of my life need to become more fruitful?

  • How can I remain connected to God during difficult seasons?

Prayer

God, thank You for choosing me and calling me according to Your purpose. Help me to remain connected to You so that my life produces fruit that honors You. When I feel rejected or discouraged, remind me that my identity is secure in You. Give me courage to walk boldly in my calling and reflect Your love everywhere I go. Amen.
