The Month of August - Refocus
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 3:14 (KJV)
As we enter the month of August, our focus is Refocus. Throughout the year, life has a way of pulling our attention in countless directions. Responsibilities, disappointments, distractions, unexpected changes, and even successes can cause us to lose sight of what God has called us to pursue. This month is an invitation to intentionally reset our hearts, renew our minds, and realign our lives with God's purpose.
In Philippians 3:14, the Apostle Paul reminds us that the Christian journey requires determination and intentionality. He speaks of pressing forward—not dwelling on past failures or accomplishments—but keeping his eyes fixed on the prize that God has prepared. Refocusing means choosing to look beyond yesterday's mistakes, releasing unnecessary burdens, and directing our attention toward Christ and His calling.
Throughout this month, each weekly devotional will challenge us to examine where our focus has drifted and encourage us to return our hearts to God. We will learn to silence distractions, strengthen our faith, renew our commitment, and pursue God's purpose with confidence and perseverance.
This August, let us make the decision to stop looking backward, stop allowing distractions to dictate our direction, and begin pressing forward with renewed vision. As we keep our eyes on Christ, He will give us the clarity, strength, and wisdom needed to fulfill every purpose He has for our lives.
Prayer for the Month:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace that continually calls us back to You. Help us to release every distraction, every weight, and every fear that keeps us from pursuing Your purpose. Give us focused hearts, renewed minds, and steadfast faith as we press toward the calling You have placed on our lives. Let this month be one of renewed vision, intentional growth, and deeper intimacy with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
