Give Yourself Some Grace

How many times have you found yourself stuck in the thoughts of “I wish I would have done that differently” or “I should have handled that better”?

Maybe you made a decision that, looking back, you wish you could change. Maybe you reacted in a way that you regret and wish you could take back. Maybe you were so drained that you didn’t show up for your children, your spouse, your family, or even a friend the way you wanted to.

Maybe someone needed an answer from you, and you simply didn’t have it.

Or maybe you placed so much pressure on yourself to get everything right, only to realize that you didn’t meet the expectations you had set for yourself.

If any of this sounds familiar, I want to remind you of something today:

There is grace for that.

There is grace for the moments you didn’t get it right. There is grace for the decisions you wish you could change. There is grace for the days when you were exhausted, overwhelmed, or simply didn’t have anything left to give.

God’s grace is still enough.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9–10, Paul reminds us that God’s grace is sufficient and that His power is made perfect in our weakness. This passage reminds me that we don’t have to constantly strive to be the “strong woman” who has everything together.

Our strength is found in Christ.

We are human. We get tired. We make mistakes. We have difficult days. We sometimes say the wrong thing, make the wrong decision, miss the mark, or simply don’t have the capacity to be everything to everyone.

And sometimes, I think we place so much pressure on ourselves to perform according to the expectations of the world that we lose sight of what God is actually asking of us.

The world may tell you that you have to be strong all the time.

That you have to have the answers.

That you have to keep going no matter how tired you are.

That you have to be everything to everybody.

But God never asked you to do life without Him.

So, when you find yourself feeling completely drained, I want you to pause and ask yourself:

“Am I drained because I have been relying on my own strength?”

If the answer is yes, maybe it’s time to make some changes.

Maybe it’s time to slow down.

Maybe it’s time to rest.

Maybe it’s time to release the pressure you’ve placed on yourself.

Maybe it’s time to stop trying to prove that you are strong enough and start trusting that God is strong enough.

Today, I want to challenge you to give yourself some grace.

Remind yourself:

I am trying. I am learning. I am growing. I may not have gotten everything right, but I am still becoming who God has called me to be.

And most importantly, remember that your mistakes do not disqualify you from God’s grace.

Philippians 4:13 reminds us, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Notice that it doesn’t say you have to do all things in your own strength.

You can do all things through Christ.

So today, release the guilt. Release the unrealistic expectations. Release the pressure to have it all together.

Give yourself some grace.

You are not failing because you are tired.

You are not weak because you need help.

You are not less worthy because you made a mistake.

You are human—and God’s grace is still covering you.

R.E.S.T. Moment

Take a moment today to breathe, reflect, and remind yourself that you do not have to carry everything alone. Give yourself permission to rest in God’s strength instead of constantly depending on your own.

Reflection

What are you giving yourself grace for today?
